Board Meetings - Our board of volunteers meets on the first Tuesday of every month. Board members take turns hosting the meetings in their homes. For more information contact our President.
Children's Outings - Outings especially for kids every month. Whether it's a trip to the zoo or a visit to the local fire station, these fun events also give our members a chance to socialize. May require RSVP or additional fee.
Drop-in Playgroups - Also known as our monthly "Park Outing" this drop-in playgroup is a popular way to meet new friends and connect with other moms. Especially if you're new to the area or new to the Club.
Family Camping Trip - Annual weekend of fresh air, hiking, campfires, dinners al fresco, and smores, all in the spectacular setting of Portola Redwoods Campground (with showers and flushing toilets!). Both novice and experienced campers are welcome. Reservations/deposits are accepted starting in late January for this adventure scheduled for July. Requires RSVP and additional fees.
Family Hikes - Monthly local outings in the fresh air along beautiful open space trails. Location, terrain, difficulty and length of hikes vary. Moms, Dads and kids are welcome. No RSVP necessary for these weekend-day adventures.
General Meetings - Designed to be both social and educational, our general meetings usually include a speaker or activity of interest to parents of young children. Prospective members are invited to attend one meeting before joining, as a casual introduction to the Club. Dads and kids are always welcome at our general meetings. Usually scheduled from 7-9pm on the third Thursday of each month at Twin Pines Community Center in Belmont. See our home page for this month's date and topic.
Harvest Event - A day of spooky fun for the whole family in early October. Held at Lemos Farm in Half Moon Bay in most recent years. Costumes encouraged for kids and adults alike! RSVP and additional fees may be required.
Holiday Celebration - A special evening of holiday celebration at our December General Meeting. Celebrations in past years have included a cookie exchange and gift exchange.
Ice Cream Social - A special evening of summer delights at our August General Meeting, held outdoors on the grass at Twin Pines Park. In 2005 this was a pajama party with Baskin Robbins ice cream and bedtime stories read by the local librarian!
Moms' Night Out - An opportunity to get out of the house for an evening of fun! Scheduled quarterly. Activities vary and have included wine tasting, dinners, crafts, yoga, cooking classes, shopping events, bowling, etc. May require RSVP or additional fee.
Moms' Weekend Getaway - Traditionally, this annual escape has been a trip to the wine country including wine tasting tours, fine dining and some optional pampering at a local spa in Sonoma. Reservations/deposits are accepted in March for this fun overnight stay in April. RSVP and additional fees required.
Mothers' Day Celebration - An extra-ordinary General Meeting in May to celebrate our extraordinary members! Our meeting room is converted into a relaxing venue with scrumptious food, wine, the latest magazines, a fun craft or two, and local professionals providing free pampering services such as haircuts, massages, facials, makeup and nail treatments. Several lucky moms go home with great raffle prizes and gift certificates. Everyone goes home with a party favor. We also collect unopened toiletries and travel-size cosmetics at this meeting for the Women's Recovery Association to help make Mothers' Day special for less fortunate moms in our local community.
New Member Socials - A way to meet other mothers who have recently joined the club. New members gather with our board members and learn more about SCBMC while making new friends. Held quarterly in March, June, September, and December, at 630pm, directly prior to the General Meeting. Prospective members may contact the Membership Coordinator for information or assistance at membership@scbmc.org.
Preschool Night - We kick off the year in January with one of our most popular General Meetings. We invite the directors and staff members from a variety of Peninsula preschools to meet face-to-face with our members and present the strengths of their programs. Up to 25 schools participate so you can compare programs, browse brochures, and collect answers to your questions, all in one place. A comprehensive printed program directory is provided free to members. Non-members are asked for a small contribution to cover the program costs.
San Carlos Hometown Days Parade - An old-fashioned fun-filled community gathering usually held in May, San Carlos Hometown Days may just be the perfect expression of small town pride and spirit. SCBMC participates in this weekend of festivities by marching with our children in the parade.
Spring Egg Hunt - Our annual outdoor egg hunt, complete with a visit from our friendly larger-than-life "Bunny." This spring morning in March includes decorating egg bags, spring-themed crafts, and the ever-thrilling egg hunt with separate areas for younger and older children. Many families pack a lunch and make a picnic out of it. RSVP and additional fees may be required.
Summer Picnic - An afternoon of summer fun and games at a local park. Traditionally organized in July or August. The Club provides most of the meal while members pitch in with sides and desserts. Everyone brings their own blanket and sunscreen! RSVP required.
Winter Party - In recent years, this annual event has included gymnastics fun at a local gym combined with a pizza party for the whole family. Gymnastics free play is supervised with participants grouped by age. Commonly scheduled in January. RSVP and additional fees may be required.
