Presidential Election 2005Be a Part of SCBMC History! For the first time in 6 years, there is more than one candidate interested in the position of SCBMC President. This is great news, because it means that there are two fantastic ladies interested in leading our club next year (2005-2006), each bringing unique talents and skills to the table. But we need your help--we need all members (as of 7/31/05) to vote and choose the candidate best suited to the role. SCBMC Members: Be a part of SCBMC history! Elect our next President! Voting Instructions for SCBMC MembersThe Club By-Laws state that the general members of the SCBMC elect the president for the succeeding year at a general meeting. For the 2005-2006 year, the SCBMC Board approved a measure to have an electronic vote so that all members could have the opportunity to vote over one week's time. On Thursday, August 11, 2005, an email was sent to all current SCBMC General Members who paid for a full year's membership (2004-2005) as of July 31, 2005. This email has a link to the on-line service SurveyMonkey. There is a link in the email that will take you to the voting page. Please see the candidates' statements below and vote! SCBMC members who do not receive the email with the voting link, should contact treasurer@scbmc.org before Tuesday, August 16. Those members who do not have an email account will be sent paper ballots. Please note that alumni members with limited memberships are not eligible to vote and will not receive this email. Voting ends at midnight on Wednesday, August 17. The winning candidate and our new SCBMC president for the 2005-2006 year will be announced at the General Meeting on Thursday, August 18. If you have any questions, please contact either treasurer@scbmc.org or programs@scbmc.org.

Jennifer D.Greetings fellow SCBMC moms! I'm proud to be one of two women this year interested in being President of the Club (especially since this is apparently an anomaly)! I'm Jennifer D. and I live in this community with my husband of 8yrs and our two children (four years old and 20 months old). In addition to being a wife and mother, I also work four days a week as a Marketing Manager. I've been an active member of the SCBMC for the past 3 years, participating in events and volunteering for a variety of committees: In-A-Pinch, and Call-A-Mom (since both of my kids were born premature, I've been able to use my experiences to support other moms with preemies). This past year as Programs Coordinator, I was responsible for planning the December Holiday Party, May Mother's Day Celebration, and July Ice Cream Social. Being part of the SCBMC has enabled me & my family to forge lifelong friendships. As a mom, it's provided me with a tremendous amount of support & resources, as well as given me an outlet for my abundance of energy, utilizing my creative & organizational talents. Sharing some of these benefits with new members is just one of the reasons I'd like to lead the club. Additionally, I would like to implement exciting programs which empower our members to participate in monthly meetings, planning committees, and community events, ensuring the Club stays dynamic and maintains its value to all moms. I welcome any questions that you may have and look forward to an opportunity to actively represent your interests as President going forward!

Lisa P.Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Lisa P. and my husband and I have lived in this community since 1997. We are the proud parents of a three and one half year old, and a sixteen month old. When my first child was born, I happily left my position as a sales engineer and am now a full-time mom. I have been a member of the San Carlos Belmont Mother's Club for almost four years and have served on the board for two of these - initially as Communications Coordinator, currently as Vice-President. During this time, I have coordinated activity meetings, implemented a new mom outreach program, and participated in every board meeting during my tenure. I have a good understanding of our leadership requirements and our club culture. There are two issues I feel strongly about. First, I want our club to foster a friendly, welcoming environment. Moms in the Bay Area are about as busy as they come, and for the club to be a valuable resource to new parents, it should be accessible, encourage participation, and offer value to new and current members. Our current board is striving to make all members aware of our family-friendly meeting policy, and encourage our members to engage newcomers in conversation during our planned events. I think these are important efforts. Secondly, I want our members to engage with our club. I believe members will get as much, and hopefully more, out of our club as they put into it. We have a lot to offer, and different members take advantage of different offerings. As President, I hope to maximize the club's offerings by polling members when planning new activities and seeking feedback, and by maintaining good communication about what's available. |
